Person detained after car slams into pole in Henrietta, takes down power lines

Henrietta, N.Y. – A person of interest was detained following a search related to a car crash in Henrietta on Thursday morning.
Shortly before 9 a.m., Monroe County Sheriff’s deputies were called to East River Road just north of Bailey Road for the report of a car that crashed into a pole.
Witnesses who saw the crash told deputies they saw the driver run from the crash.
A Monroe County Sheriff’s K9 unit was called to help track the driver’s location. Ultimately, a person matching the description of the driver was spotted a few blocks away from the crash scene and was detained for questioning.
East River Road is closed between Bailey Road and Cape Henry Trail as RG&E crews work on the downed power lines.
Approximately 1,170 RG&E customers in the Henrietta area are without power. Electricity is expected to be restored around 11:15 a.m., according to the RG&E website.
