Daughter accused of murdering mom in Greece to be extradited to NY
Greece, N.Y. – The teenage girl accused of murdering her mother in Greece last month will be extradited to New York.
Hannah Thomas, 17, is charged with second-degree murder in the death of her mother, Otillia Piros. Thomas’ boyfriend, 16-year-old Richard Avila, is also charged with murder.
Police in Greece said Thomas and Avila shot Piros twice in the head with a handgun in the kitchen of her West Parkway home sometime between December 28-29. Greece Police Chief Drew Forsythe said the suspects are from Arizona, and Thomas had come up to Rochester to visit for the holidays.
Police said the pair were pulled over in Missouri on Dec. 29 while driving 111 MPH in Piros’ vehicle. According to court papers, Avila was driving while Thomas was in the passenger seat.
During a court appearance Tuesday, Thomas signed a waiver allowing her to be extradited to New York. There is no date given for when she will be brought up.
No motive has been given for the killing. Forsythe said anyone who has information should contact Greece Police at (585) 865-9200.
A mugshot of Avila was not made available.
