Teen, woman arrested in connection with armed carjacking after chase

Rochester, N.Y. — Two people are in custody in connection with an armed carjacking earlier this week.
Around 10:20 p.m., a Rochester Police officer spotted a vehicle in the area of Avenue C and Hollenbeck Street that had been stolen at gunpoint earlier this week, according to Capt. Sam Lucyshyn.
Officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but it took off, traversing the city and crashing into two cars a short time later on Lyell Avenue near Frankfort Street.
A 16-year-old male and 22-year-old female inside the stolen vehicle were arrested. Both of them complained of pain and were taken to the hospital. A woman in one of the vehicles that was hit was taken to the hospital and is expected to be treated and released, according to RPD.
Police are investigating whether these suspects are connected to a rash of carjackings over the last month. An Irondequoit man was killed in an attempted carjacking in Gates earlier this week.
