Hilton elementary school principal indicted on at least one felony count by grand jury

Rochester, N.Y. – A grand jury has voted to indict a Hilton elementary school principal on at least one felony count.
Kirk Ashton was arrested last week, accused of sexually abusing multiple students over the course of several years.
The longtime principal of Northwood Elementary School has been charged with nine counts of endangering the welfare of a child, six counts of first-degree sexual abuse and five counts of second-degree course of sexual conduct.
State Police say nine victims, all students between the ages of nine and 12, have been identified so far. They say the alleged abuse occurred between Sept. 1, 2019 and March 26, 2021.
The Monroe County District Attorney’s Office says certification was filed Tuesday stating a grand jury indicted Ashton on at least one felony count. It’s not yet clear what that count is, or how many more he may have been indicted on. That information is expected to be released at a later date.
Ashton remains in custody and is being held at the Niagara County Jail.
Anyone with information in the case is asked to call the State Police hotline at (585) 398-4100, or the Bivona Child Advocacy Center at (585) 935-7800.
