Rochester Regional Health pediatrician discusses the rise in COVID-19 cases in children

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — One trend we’re seeing here in Monroe County and across the country is an uptick in the number of children getting COVID-19.
For the first time since the pandemic, children represent 20% of the new weekly COVID-19 cases nationally, according to the American Academy of Pediatrics. On Friday, the Monroe County’s Health Department reported 16 new cases in kids under 10 years old and 44 new cases in 10 to 19-year-olds.
