Community rallies to remember victims of violence

Rochester, N.Y.  – Several local community members are taking a stand against violence in Rochester.
ROC The Peace and members of First Genesis Baptist Church held a rally Saturday to honor the memory of victims of violence, and demand peace in their neighborhoods.
They say violence leads to a loss of control and they want to take that back.
“We want to ensure the people feel that this is their community and that violence is not something that we accept, nor will we be quiet about it,” said First Genesis Baptist Church Pastor Fred Johnson.
“We’re out here, we walk the streets, we walk, talk, and pray on a weekly basis, and we do whatever we can,” explained Sirena Cotton, founder and president of ROC the Peace.
Both groups say they plan to continue these sessions throughout the summer.
