Man shot; car with kids inside hit by gunfire

A man is recovering from gunshot wounds, after being shot near the David Gantt Recreation Center on North Street.
Rochester Police say a car he’d been in was also hit by gunfire. A woman and three children were in that car but were not hit.
Just after 10 p.m. on Thursday, Rochester Police received multiple reports of shots fired near 700 North Street.
When police arrived to the scene, they say they saw a vehicle pull out of the area.
They attempted to pull the car over before it continued onto Davis St, stopping at the dead end.
Police say the 31-year-old male driver got out of the car and tried to run, before police caught up to him and arrested him.
While this was happening, a 25-year-old man was dropped off at a nearby hospital with at least one gunshot wound.
Medical staff report his injuries are non-life threatening.
Rochester Police say they believe that the victim was traveling in a car with a 21-year-old woman and three kids, when their vehicle was fired at.
The surrounding area of North Street and Merrimac Street was closed for the investigation but has since reopened.
Rochester Police ask anyone with information to call 911.
