Police: Man arrested after attempted robbery, stolen car leads to chase and crash

– A man from Rochester was arrested Tuesday after Rochester Police said he tried to rob a store, stole a car, and led police on a car chase before crashing.
Police were called to a store on Monroe Avenue for a report of an attempted robbery.
Officers said Jason Taylor, 37, walked into Ghost Dog Glass while armed with a knife and tried to rob the store owner. He ran away without anything, and allegedly stole a car on Mt. Hope Avenue a short time later.
Shortly after the car was stolen, officers said they spotted Taylor driving the car on University Avenue near East Main Street and pursued him. During that pursuit, Taylor crashed into another car head-on on East Main Street at the Inner Loop. according to police.
After running from the crash scene, Taylor was taken into custody and taken to Strong Memorial Hospital to be treated for injuries suffered in the crash.
Taylor was later charged with first-degree attempted robbery and fourth-degree attempted grand larceny for the attempted robbery of the store on Monroe Avenue. Other charges are forthcoming for the alleged car theft, police pursuit, and crash.
After arresting Taylor, investigators said he is the suspect in several robberies in multiple towns outside of Rochester. Investigators plan to update media at a later date about the status of the case.
