Teenager dead after drowning in Oatka Creek

Scottsville, New York— One teenager is dead after drowning in Oatka Creek Tuesday night.
According to Monroe County Sheriff’s Deputies and ambulances responded to the area of 4792 River Road around 9 p.m. for the report of a male in the creek who was drowning.
Authorities don’t believe he jumped into the water. They said he entered the water and began to struggle when he reached the middle of the creek.
Before fire personnel eventually removed the teenager from the creek, bystanders were unable to remove him themselves,. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
The investigation is ongoing. The name of the victim is not released yet.
