Bronze statue of Frederick Douglass at the airport

Henrietta, New York — Bronze statue of Frederick Douglass at the Frederick Douglass Greater Rochester International Airport soon, a fundraising drive is underway to build it.
Professor in RIT’s College of Art and Design Olivia Kim will create the statue and not-for-profit organization Rochester Community Television is leading the drive and aiming to raise $250,000.
Kim made 13 bicentennial Douglass sculptures in half year, with the help of volunteers, at historical locations throughout the city.
This statue of Frederick Douglass would be modeled off of the 1899 statue of him at Highland Park.
