A man taken into custody after trying to stab an officer with a knife
New York – A man was taken into custody in the village of Holley after trying to stab an officer with a knife.
According to the officers, they were called around 6:10 p.m. on June 15 to Holley Falls on Frisbee Terrace for a suspicious man.
According to witnesses, the man was “walking around with a knife antagonizing people.”
At first, an officer arrived and walked up to the man and started to ask him questions, but the man did not answer. After the officer walked away and asked other people in the park about the man accused of walking around the knife, the officer walked back over to the man in question – who was now sitting on a bench.
According to the officer, at this point, the man lunged at the officer and tried to stab him with a knife. Other people nearby jumped in to try to help the officer, at which point the police said the officer was able to get the knife away from the man and use his Taser.
According to Holley Police Chief Robert Barton, the man’s name is being withheld until his arraignment. He is currently being held in the Orleans County Jail.
