Rochester resident with family in Ukraine concerned about the situation

Rochester, New York – The situation at the Ukraine border is watched with particular interest by some Rochester residents.
Alexander Oryshkevych of Irondequoit has been following the developments closely. He has family in western and central Ukraine.
Oryshkevych knows it’s a dangerous situation, but the threat from Ukraine’s larger neighbor Russia has been real for some time.
“Even though we claimed independence in 1991 – we’ve had a scary neighbor – aggressor – we’re fearful – its a tense, scary time for family, friends here and globally,” said Oryshkevych.
According to Oryshkevych, some family friends have left the country amid the possibility of armed conflict. He mentions that other residents in that area are planning to stay put.
