Monroe County to keep COVID-19 testing, vaccine sites open

Monroe County, New York – According to Monroe County, it will keep its COVID-19 vaccine and testing sites running, even after the end of the masking mandate.
They’re now focused on getting school-aged children vaccinated, health officials said. On Thursday, fewer than 300 new COVID cases were reported Thursday.
The health commissioner says that some are still struggling with the virus, despite the recent drop in cases.
“Many individuals, young and old, are suffering from long-term effects from COVID,” Dr. Michael Mendoza said. “Let’s not forget who these people are. They are people we know in our communities, in our schools, and in our churches. And many of them have very legitimate reasons to be concerned, especially as we look ahead to this next phase of the pandemic.”
County leaders support keeping the school masking mandate for students through the winter break.
