Annual Pan Afrikan Festival Returns!

After a two year pause, the A.B.O.V.E. organization is happy to officially announce the 14th Annual Pan Afrikan Festival (formerly the Afrikan American Festival).

This year the theme for the free one-day event, is “ONE LOVE” Enjoy a day of live music, food, vendors, cultural history & displays, activities, health activities/information, and much more.

Volunteers and Vendors can go to the website to get information and complete the applications.

Location: Highland Bowl-1137 South Avenue-Rochester, New York 14620

The exciting lineup for this year’s Pan Afrikan Festival includes: Ghanian Womba African Drumming & Dancing, Mambo Kings Latin Music, Jimmie Highsmith Jazz Band, Jay Baba Afro beats Music, Latriste Fulton & Frequency Blues Band, Ignite Reggae Music, Wala Afrobeats Music, ReVibe Neo Soul Music, KT Rap/Hip Hop Music. The HEADLINER: will be the Freelance Band R&B Music. A.B.O.V.E. Would like to thank all of the sponsors and supporters, as they play a huge role in the success of the Festival: Greater Rochester Health Foundation, ESL Federal Credit Union, Wegmans, Dr. Wilhelmina Sizer, RN, ACNP-BC, FNP-BC, and the Rochester Black Nurses Association.

The Pan Afrikan Festival brings together the Diverse Rochester Community to Celebrate and Share the Afrikan/ Afrikan American Heritage.

This year the Health Tent will be overseen by Dr. Wilhelmina Sizer, and the theme for the Health Tent is “HEALTH MATTERS.” Partnering and working closely with the Rochester Black Nurses Association and other agencies, there will be discussion on health risks that affect communities of color. Healthy food and snacks will be provided.

Lastly, there will be various activities that promote healthy living, exercise and physical activities such as Zumba, dancing, and much more.
