Stranger slashes woman with box cutter unprovoked Times Square attack

A man armed with a boxcutter slashed a 59-year-old woman in Times Square in the city’s latest unprovoked stranger attack caught on video, police said Monday.

The assailant ran up on the woman at Seventh Ave. and W. 42nd St. about 10 a.m. Sunday as she pulled a cart, startling surveillance video released by the NYPD shows.

He raised his right hand over his head and slashed her with the box cutter. He didn’t say a word before running off east on W. 42nd St.

The victim suffered a deep cut on her right hand and a less serious wound on her right forearm. She was treated at Bellevue Hospital.

Cops are asking the public’s help identifying her attacker and tracking him down.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.

Meanwhile, police are still looking for the Crocs-wearing attacker who targeted victims at random in two well-heeled neighborhoods in Brooklyn and Manhattan.

Police have yet to officially link the two attacks — one at a popular produce store in Fort Greene on Wednesday, the other on an Upper East Side sidewalk on July 14. But surveillance video from both incidents show a remarkably similar suspect, down to his choice in casual footwear.

“One hundred percent, it was him,” said the victim in the Upper East Side attack, speaking to the Daily News on Saturday.

The Crocs-wearing attacker does not resemble the assailant in Sunday’s attack.
