New Orleans-area boy, 14, leads cops on 80 mph ATV chase

A 14-year-old Louisiana boy driving an ATV was arrested for leading cops on a high speed chase Wednesday that sent an officer to the hospital.

The teen, whose name was not released due to his age, was arrested Thursday on multiple counts, including aggravated flight from an officer and negligent injuring, reports.

The incident involved the suspect driving at 80 mph through Fremaux Town Center in Slidell, about 34 miles northeast of New Orleans, according to the outlet.

There, he was “running vehicles off the road, before fleeing when officers tried to stop him,” and ultimately drove across a levee to the nearby interstate, the paper reports.

Police told that an officer, whose name was not publicly released, ended up in a collision and was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Slidell police did not immediately respond to the Daily News’ request for comment.
