Video shows crew of crooks raiding NYC smoke shop, shooting man

Startling surveillance video shows a crew of crooks raiding an Upper West Side smoke shop of cash and CBD oils and shooting a friend of the store owner who intervened, cops said Tuesday.

One of the robbers, sporting an orange American Eagle shirt tied around his head, was in the process of purchasing three drinks when he pulled a gun and hopped over the counter at the Lincoln Convenience on Broadway near W. 72nd St. during the 4:10 a.m. heist Monday, cops said.

He trained his pistol on a worker as he rifled through the opened register, taking $150 in cash, the video released by the NYPD shows.

His three accomplices, one of them unmasked and wearing a “Rick and Morty” T-shirt, also went behind the counter, with one grabbing three CBD jars.

That’s when the store owner’s 29-year-old friend went behind the counter and jumped the gunman.

The two men brawled falling to the floor, before the gunman shot him in the foot, cops said. Medics rushed the victim to Mount Sinai Morningside, where he was treated and released.

The victim was back at his Brooklyn home Monday afternoon recovering, his brother told the Daily News.

“He’s all right,” the brother said. “My brother really can’t move right now. The bullet went through his leg.”

The wounded victim manages a nearby McDonald’s and stopped by the smoke shop to check on the owner, his brother said.

Last Friday, the same smoke shop was robbed at 6:30 a.m. by three men, one with a gun, cops said. They took one worker’s wallet and stuffed money and numerous store items into black trash bags. It was not clear if any of those men were involved in Monday’s shooting.

CBD, the active ingredient in cannabis, has become a popular target among crooks in recent months.

Last Wednesday, a worker at a First Ave. tobacco shop in the East Village was held up at gunpoint. The three crooks stole $3,000 from the register and $2,400 worth of CBD.

On July 18, a gunman stole $250 and CBD products from a smoke shop on Seneca Ave. in Ridgewood, Queens.

And on May 16, a robber at a Pennsylvania Ave. smoke shop in East New York stole $1,800 worth of such products after pepper-spraying a worker in her face.

Cops released the surveillance video in the hopes someone recognizes the gunman and his accomplices. Anyone with information regarding this incident is urged to call NYPD Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS.
