California man arrested for teen’s brutal 2016 kidnapping

The son of a California woman accused of arranging the kidnapping of her boyfriend’s daughter has been arrested in the same assault.

Brandon Roque, 25, has been charged with kidnapping, torture, conspiracy, sexual assault and intimidating a witness, the fourth suspect charged in connection with the 2016 incident, according to the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office.

Roque’s mother, 47-year-old Sandra Garcia, his younger brother, 24-year-old Mark Anthony Roque; and Garcia’s cousin, 46-year-old Miguel Carriedo, were previously arrested.

The 13-year-old victim was walking home from her Clovis school bus stop on Feb. 16, 2016, when a group of masked men grabbed her and forced her into the trunk of their car, according to police. About 20 miles away, they tied her to a tree, beat her up and sexually assaulted her, then fled.

The girl walked a mile to the nearest house and had the homeowner call the police.

According to police, Garcia organized the kidnapping to scare the girl into moving to Sweden to live with her mother so Garcia could get back together with her father, the Fresno Bee previously reported.

Garcia and son Mark were charged with conspiring to commit a kidnapping for financial gain, torture and making threats to kill the victim in 2016.
