Driver hits three people, including toddler, fleeing NYPD

Three people were hit and injured, including a 2-year-old girl, by a car driver fleeing police in Queens Wednesday, police said.

Officers pulled over the driver of a 2021 Dodge Durango at Wyckoff Ave. and George St. in Ridgewood about 5:10 p.m. because of the vehicle’s loud exhaust, cops said.

During the stop, police realized he had a suspended license and attempted to put him under arrest.

The man got back in the car and hit the gas, striking a 28-year-old woman pushing her 2-year-old daughter in a stroller and a 35-year-old man who wasn’t related to them, police said.

Police said the woman had a knee injury, her daughter had bruising to the wrist and the man’s leg was hurt in the chaos.

Instead of chasing after the driver, police put the woman and her daughter into a marked police car and rushed them to Wyckoff Hospital, where they were listed in stable condition. Medics took the man to the same hospital, where he is expected to recover.

About 40 minutes later, officers in Brooklyn discovered the abandoned car on Woodbine St. near Wilson Ave. in Bushwick.

Police are still searching for the driver.
