A Brooklyn gang member has been arrested for a fatal shooting outside a city public housing complex, police said Thursday.
Shakur Bartley, 25, was nabbed Wednesday at his home in Brownsville and charged with murder and gun possession, cops said.
Bartley, a member of the Nine Trey Billy Gang, according to cops, allegedly shot Tyrie McLaughlin, 26, in front of the Brownsville Houses on Blake Ave. near Mother Gaston Blvd. at 9:13 p.m. July 12.
McLaughlin, struck in the chest, staggered up to the fourth floor of his building and collapsed. He was rushed to Brookdale University Hospital, where he died.
Hours before he was killed Mclaughlin posted on Facebook, “So big on living right & doing right I need all my blessings.”
Mclaughlin left behind his parents and two sisters. His loss, a week after his 26t birthday, is immeasurable.
“He was a very good person at heart,” his father Mark Myers said Thursday. “He loved everyone, and especially his mother. He wanted his family to get up, get out of Brownsville and he always spoke on this. That was his wish, ‘Mom I just want us to get up out of here.’”
His wife is struggling, Myers, 55, said.
“That’s something that’s torn from you, and it’s still fresh, tomorrow will make a month,” said Myers. “It’s rough. My child used to be sitting here on the couch talking to me, now that’s no more.”
An arrest their son’s murder offers Mclaughlin’s parents some solace.
“My wife and I just want justice to be done,” Myers said. “We will pray on this.”
