Truncheon-wielding pedicab driver beats rival hack in NYC
An argument between two pedicab drivers in Midtown escalated to an assault after one of the hacks whipped out a wooden truncheon and beat his rival with it before peddling off.
The cycle of violence began on July 14, around 2 p.m. when the 24-year-old victim was confronted by another pedicab driver at West 33rd St. and Broadway at the tip of Greeley Square Park.
The three-wheeled menace began to argue with his fellow driver then pulled out a nightstick and pounded on the victim’s back, according to police.
The assailant then peddled away, leaving the other man with a bruised back and a cut to the leg.
Police put out a photo of the suspect, a bearded man with dark hair, that shows him holding a three-foot club with a man behind him who appears to be trying to restrain him from further injuring the other driver.
The victim was not badly injured and refused medical attention.
