Two pro-life protestors harassed an employee inside Planned Parenthood clinic in Brooklyn

On Friday, police reported that two known pro-life protestors posed as Planned Parenthood patients to harass a clinic employee in a live-streamed incident, with one saying “you’re killing babies!”

Police said the 28-year-old employee was targeted when the suspects pretended to have a Thursday appointment and then pulled out their phones at 9 a.m. to express their anti-abortion views. According to the NYPD, the Planned Parenthood employee reported that “her life was in danger” and officers filed a harassment complaint report on the incident.

Bevelyn Beatty and Edmee Chavannes are the two people who broke into the reproductive health clinic, according to the Twitter account of the state’s attorney general, Letitia James. James said that the two women had “physically and verbally attacked patients and providers” many times in the past at reproductive health clinics.

“Everyone should be able to make decisions about their bodies without fear of intimidation or violence. We’ve taken legal action against them before, and I won’t hesitate to use the full force of my office again,” she said.

James filed a civil lawsuit against the two of them in February 2021, trying to stop them from harassing women who were visiting a Planned Parenthood clinic located on Bleecker Street in NoHo. The court documents charged the two with violating clinic access laws by engaging in “obstructive, threatening, harassing, and violent activity.”

A woman who went to the clinic on Friday was worried about what had happened the day before.

She remarked, “It doesn’t make me feel less likely to get service, but it does give me concern.”

A local resident said that she had seen similar protests against the clinic before, but nothing like this.

“At the worst, the idiots would stand here with rosary beads praying. What a world we live in,” she said.
