Bicyclist killed in a collision with tractor-trailer in NYC

Authorities confirmed on Tuesday that a 44-year-old biker was killed in a collision with a tractor-trailer at a Brooklyn intersection.

Both the bike and the vehicle were traveling on Pennsylvania Avenue in East New York at the same time at 4:25 p.m., when the driver of the truck turned onto Linden Boulevard.

According to eyewitnesses, the bicyclist was hit by the truck as he crossed the street.

“I saw the truck making the turn,” said Sonia, who declined to provide her last name. “Those wheels ran over him. I started screaming.

“He was moving, then suddenly he just fell back — that was it,” the woman continued. “He got hit in the crosswalk. It’s so sad.”

The victim had serious head injuries and was taken to Brookdale Hospital, where he died later.

The truck driver, 52 years old, remained at the site. He has not been charged yet.

The identity of the victim will be released after authorities notify his family.
