Handbag thief robbed and insulted a transgender woman in Queens

According to statements made by police on Tuesday, a handbag thief in the borough of Queens assaulted a transgender woman in the face after berating her with an anti-gay tirade.
At around 5:30 a.m. on Thursday, the suspect rushed up to the 33-year-old victim as she was walking down Roosevelt Avenue in Jackson Heights at 80th Street.
“You’re gay! You’re a f—-t!” the man screamed at the woman, according to cops. “You’re not supposed to be on the streets!”
The woman was struck in the face by the mugger, who then made off with her handbag, which had around $80 inside.
The victim received medical attention at the scene.
The suspect was last seen running in a westerly direction on Roosevelt Avenue. The New York Police Department’s Hate Crimes Task Force is conducting the investigation.
