Pay increases are stagnating in the Buffalo–Niagara area

The incomes of employees in Buffalo and Niagara have returned to a pattern of modest development after seeing a spike during the pandemic caused by the COVID-19 virus.

The average weekly wages at private companies in the Buffalo-Niagara area increased by less than 2% from June 2021 to June 2022—approximately in line with the rises that were usual before the pandemic.

Even while the average weekly salary increases throughout the Buffalo Niagara region were lower than the 5% rise that was seen nationwide, they were the greatest among the main metropolitan regions located in upstate New York. Furthermore, the average weekly wage in this region is approximately 5% higher than the national average.
