Man arrested and extradited to New York in connection with a fatal shooting at a Brooklyn bar
According to authorities, a man sought in connection with the shooting death of a 39-year-old regular at a Brooklyn cocktail bar was arrested 1,600 miles away from the crime scene on Friday.
On August 16, Hassan Allan was arrested in his hometown of Houston, Texas, for the murder of Michael Anansingh on March 21, 2021.
This past Thursday, Allan was extradited to New York, where he faces charges of murder, weapons possession, and endangerment. During the arraignment that took place on Friday, the judge decided that he should be held without bail.
Anansingh, who was a regular at Erv’s, a bar on Beekman in Prospect Lefferts Gardens, got into an altercation with Allan outside of the bar, according to the police. A woman was the cause of the conflict.
Allen instantly took out a handgun and opened fire on Anansingh, hitting him three times in the back of the neck.
Relatives said that Anansingh’s sister had just gone inside the pub to grab her handbag when the shooting occurred.
“It’s very terrible. He was a very kind, friendly and loving person. All the neighbors are crying. He looked after his mother until she died. He was a very gentle man,” his wife, Dilfuza Anansingh, 48, said.
