Rochester traffic stop leads to felony weapons charges

Rochester, New York – In a significant operation on December 3, 2023, the SP Rochester Gun Involved Violence Elimination (GIVE) Initiative successfully apprehended three individuals during a traffic stop in Rochester, NY. Terence Howard, Sherron Davis, and Najm Dowdell, all residents of Rochester, now face serious weapon-related felony charges.

The event unfolded when troopers halted a 2010 Dodge Avenger for a traffic violation. During this stop, they discovered two loaded semi-automatic handguns and an additional magazine. This discovery led to the immediate arrest of Howard, Davis, and Dowdell for their alleged involvement in criminal activities.

These suspects are currently detained at the Monroe County Jail, awaiting their arraignment in Rochester City Court. They face charges of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd (C Felony) and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd (D Felony), highlighting the gravity of their alleged offenses.
