Brighton High School teacher accused of sharing child porn online

BRIGHTON, N.Y. — A physics teacher at Brighton High School is suspected of spreading child pornography online.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of New York, Webster resident Louis Carusone, 44, uploaded a film and photos containing child pornography to a file-sharing website on October 10. The criminal complaint states that an undercover officer then downloaded the suspected data. According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, the same officer downloaded further files uploaded from Carusone’s IP address between October 14 and October 15.

Multiple gadgets, including laptops, smartphones, and SD cards, were taken from Carusone’s Webster home on October 21, according to authorities.

An inspection of the gadgets by law police reportedly indicated that Carusone had photographed and taped films of female pupils in his classroom. The gadgets, according to the police, also included videos of adults and children in swimming suits at an apparent water park. Police say that one of the devices they found on Carusone had more than 2,000 pictures and 21 videos of child porn on it.

Carusone is accused of receiving and possessing child pornography, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office. On Thursday morning, he went to a U.S. magistrate court and was released with some restrictions, such as electronic monitoring.
