One dead, one wounded in a shooting at Brooklyn West Indian restaurant

Two employees of a West Indian restaurant in Brooklyn were shot on Thursday, one fatally, by a shooter who followed the victims inside, according to police.

According to authorities, Eyon Johnson, 46, and his colleague, 45, were entering Miguel’s West Indian Restaurant at the intersection of Strauss St. and Lott Ave. in Brownsville just before 9 a.m. when a man dressed in all-black followed them inside and opened fire.

Two restaurant employees were refurbishing the establishment when they were shot, according to police. The outside of a car was peppered with gunshot holes.

Both men were transported to Kings County Hospital by paramedics, where Johnson died. The younger victim was in a life-threatening situation.

Johnson’s superintendent said that he lived with his wife and two children in Crown Heights.

“He was a cool guy,” said the 58-year-old man. “A good tenant. Just in and out. He say, ‘Hi, how are you doing?’ That’s it.”

According to police sources, many bullet casings were located at the location.

The shooter fled and has not been apprehended.
