California man sentenced to 610 years in prison for molesting a child
On Tuesday, a child molester who was found guilty of molesting a child between the ages of 4 and 6 in Southern California was sentenced to 610 years in prison. The victim was between the ages of 4 and 6 years old.
Travis Edward Martin, a resident of Santa Paula, is accused of having sexually molested a child in Ventura County or Orange County between the years 2019 and 2021.
The youngster was just four years old when the abuse started, and it continued until 2021. On October 3, the jury reached a verdict finding Martin guilty on all charges.
The 37-year-old man was at first arrested and charged with seven counts of lewd or lascivious acts with a child.
Martin was also charged with one count of possessing child pornography and one count of using a child in the production of pornography.
The District Attorney’s Office for Ventura County says that the defendant was previously convicted of child molestation prior to the most recent instance.
“We are pleased with the jury’s verdict and the judge’s sentence in this case, which accurately reflects the harm caused by the defendant’s horrific crimes,” Supervising Deputy District Attorney Rafael Orellana, who prosecuted the case, said in a statement.
“The 610 years to life sentence will serve to protect our community and demonstrates that there is zero tolerance for the sexual abuse and exploitation of children,” the statement added.
