Crash in Pennsylvania involving two military vehicles leaves 1 dead, 3 injured

Authorities say that over the weekend, a crash between two military vehicles killed one soldier and hurt three others in a military training area in Pennsylvania.

A press release from the Pennsylvania National Guard says that the incident happened on Saturday near Fort Indiantown Gap, which is about 25 miles northeast of Harrisburg, which is where the guard’s headquarters are.

Officials said that Spc. Mackenzie L. Shay, 20, of New Castle, was killed in the collision. Shay was a 92F Army Petroleum Supply Specialist who was part of Company G, 128th Brigade Support Battalion, 28th Infantry Division.

Authorities say that three other military men were treated and sent home from Hershey Medical Center.

“Our priority right now is taking care of the family and soldiers, ensuring they have all the resources they need during this critical time,” said Army Maj. Gen. Mark Schindler.

Officials withheld information on the accident, stating only that it is still under investigation. Fort officials said the accident happened during a normal supply run between training ranges at the fort’s more remote training location.
