Dallas’ food scene comes alive: Celebrating art, culture, and cuisine in May
Dallas, Texas – Dallas local news outlet, Dallas Metro News, recently reported about the top food and drink events that are scheduled to take place in the city within the month of May.
Celestial Beerworks in Dallas, TX, is set to host Venus Fest on May 13, a unique beer art fair featuring innovative breweries from across the nation. The event will display original artwork and photography from participating breweries, alongside interactive art installations, live music, and an art auction. While guest beers’ labels can be admired, they will not be available on tap. Attendees can choose from three ticket levels: general admission, VIP, or art show only. Celestial Beerworks will also unveil its new location during the event. All Venus Fest proceeds will benefit Tracy’s Kids, a charity offering art therapy to cancer patients. Three food vendors will be present at the event.
On May 17, Bordeaux wine specialist Harold Langlais will commemorate his inaugural visit to Texas with a wine tasting and dinner at El Carlos Elegante. Langlais represents Château le Puy, a winery with over 400 years of grape-growing history. The event will feature vintage wines paired with a Mexico City-inspired five-course meal. Tickets are priced at $250 per person, promising an exquisite evening of fine wine and dining.
The Sunny South Dallas Food Park, formerly known as the MLK Food Park, is slated to open on May 21 at Fair Park in Dallas, TX. The park will predominantly feature Black-owned businesses and vendors, offering vegan and non-vegan food options, handmade goods, and family-friendly entertainment and live music. Admission is free, allowing visitors to relish locally-sourced and diverse cuisine in the Grand Place, situated within Fair Park.
In honor of AAPI Heritage Month, Krio and Asian Grub will organize the AAPI Night Market Block Party on May 27 in Dallas, TX. The event will host around 30 food and art vendors from Asian restaurants throughout North Texas, including Khao Noodle Shop, Sabaidee Sweets, and Sharetea. While admission is free, a $75 “Fastpass” upgrade permits patrons to bypass regular food lines and includes five food tickets and two drink tickets. Proceeds from “Fastpass” ticket sales will support Make-A-Wish.
Carne Asada Fest, a celebration of Latinx culture through food and music, will return to Dallas, TX, on May 28. Held at Gilley’s Dallas, the festival will feature live performances by artists such as Michael Salgado, MC Magic, Fulanito, Jenny B, and more. Over 25 vendors will serve a range of Latinx food options from establishments like Val’s Seafood Kitchen, Leo’s Churro Bar, and Arvizu’s Taqueria. The first 100 attendees will receive complimentary carne asada. General admission starts at $45, while VIP tickets, priced at $150, offer additional perks like a paloma, private food set-up, and more. The festival will take place during Memorial Day Weekend.
