Female police officer dies from a self-inflicted gunshot wound after shooting two women in a domestic altercation
ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Following a gunshot that included a local law enforcement officer, Rochester police said that the incident resulted in the deaths of two people and the injury of another.
Officers were reportedly sent to the area of Costar Street and Saratoga Avenue just before 7:30 p.m. on Monday after receiving a report regarding a shooting at that location. They said that upon arrival they discovered three women who had been shot.
According to the reports from the investigators, a woman who was 27 years old was declared dead at the site, and a woman who was 29 years old died shortly after being transferred to UR Medical Center. A third woman, who is said to be in her 30s, was shot several times in the upper body, although her injuries are not regarded as life-threatening.
A domestic altercation preceded the incident, according to the Rochester Police Department. The 29-year-old woman who died at the hospital was a police officer with another department. Investigation revealed that she shot herself after shooting the two other women.
Information on the identities of the women involved in the incident was not released.
