Gunman arrested for fatally shooting a man waiting for an elevator in NYC

Police said on Sunday that they had arrested a suspect in connection with the deadly shooting of a man who was waiting for the elevator in his Manhattan public housing building.

Lindell Cox, age 31, was arrested and charged with murder in connection with the death of Jaden Stokes one month ago.

Cops said that Cox shot and killed Stokes, 21, with a gun on October 27 at the Campos Plaza NYCHA building on East 12th Street near Avenue C in the East Village. Cox had a mask over his face and was dressed in all black from head to toe.

Stokes was shot in the chest, and the man standing next to him, Jordan Lopez, 24, was wounded in the leg. They were both transported to a hospital, where Stokes succumbed to his injuries.

After being arraigned in Manhattan Criminal Court, the judge ordered that Cox be held without the possibility of bail.
