Hoochenanny Whiskey Festival set to take place in October

“A novel festival is on the horizon for New York State, promising a delightful blend of autumn scenery, live musical performances, and an abundance of whiskey.

The inaugural Hoochenanny Whiskey Festival, a gathering that brings together various whiskey distilleries from across New York, is set to grace the charming Village of Geneseo in October.

The festival’s distinctive motto, ‘Cultivate the Uncommon,’ was conceived by Tommy Brunett, the CEO and co-founder of Iron Smoke Distillery.”

“Bringing the Rickhouse Rendezvous to life at Hoochenanny is a dream come true. This celebration of the unconventional, where the art of whiskey-making meets the thrill of discovery, is an opportunity for fans to explore the unparalleled flavors of New York’s finest spirits, learn from the masters and immerse themselves in the rich heritage of craft liquor.”

The festival is scheduled for Friday, October 20th, and Saturday, October 21st, within the picturesque confines of Geneseo Village Park, situated at the crossroads of Main Street and 20A.

In collaboration with the New York State Distillers Guild (NYSDG), the festival further solidifies its dedication to spotlighting the state’s premier spirits and devoted craftspeople.

The festival will feature the following guild members:

  • 1911 Established
  • Black Button Distilling
  • Finger Lakes Distilling
  • Hudson Whiskey
  • Lock 1 Distilling Company
  • Old Scotland Road Distillery
  • Southern Tier Distilling Co.
  • Springbrook Hollow Farm Distillery
  • The Better Man Distilling Co.
  • New Scotland Spirits

During the event, a unique whiskey tasting experience called ‘The Rickhouse Rendezvous,’ described as ‘one-of-a-kind’ by Brunett, will highlight beloved brands from all corners of the state, including Iron Smoke Distillery, Cooperstown Distillery, and Great Jones Distilling.

Within the Rickhouse Rendezvous, attendees can explore the Mixology Bar, offering exclusive artisanal beverages not found elsewhere at the festival. The event will also feature fireside chat sessions designed for both whiskey enthusiasts and connoisseurs, providing educational insights in a panel-style format.

Moreover, Fee Brothers will lead a discussion on the evolution of post-Prohibition whiskey brands, while Vendome Copper will showcase the often-overlooked heroes of whiskey distillation. The New York State Distillers Guild (NYSDG) will delve into the rich history of whiskey in the state.

“The Distillers Guild is excited to bring a piece of our craft to this unforgettable event. With New York having the highest concentration of distilleries for any state east of the Mississippi, this is the perfect opportunity for consumers to immerse themselves in craft culture,” said Brian
Facquet, president of the NYSDG.

Additionally, a VIP ‘Best of New York’ sip and stroll affair is slated to take place at the Wadsworth Homestead, offering breathtaking views of the picturesque Genesee River Valley. This exclusive event is scheduled from 6 to 11 p.m. on Friday, October 20th.

Saturday, from noon to 10 p.m., promises a day filled with live music, featuring headliner The Struts, and an immersive experience designed to ‘cultivate the uncommon.’

It’s worth noting that all festival attendees must be 21 years of age or older to partake in alcohol consumption, including tastings.

For those interested, tickets can be purchased online, with pricing options ranging from $29.99 to $350.
