Man convicted of his mother’s death executed in a Texas penitentiary

On Wednesday, a man who was 61 years old was put to death in Texas, only a few hours after the Supreme Court of the United States decided not to interfere in the case.

In November of 2003, Tracy Beatty was found guilty of murdering his mother, Carolyn Click, who was 62 years old, and was sentenced to death for her death. Click was found strangled to death in her house in East Texas.

Beatty received a lethal injection at the state penitentiary in Huntsville, Texas, at the local time of 6:39 p.m., making him the fourth person to be executed in the state of Texas this year.

Beatty’s lawyers argued that he was not given the opportunity to undergo a proper psychological evaluation before his execution.

According to the Death Penalty Information Center, which is a nonprofit organization that focuses on matters linked to death punishment, his execution was the 13th in the United States in 2022.
