Man who pepper sprayed an NYC employee during a botched robbery arrested by authorities
On Tuesday, police announced the arrest of a man who pepper-sprayed a Best Buy clerk on the Upper West Side after a failed heist.
According to police, Jordan Smith, 24, was detained and charged with robbery for the assault on Saturday.
At approximately 3:55 p.m., Smith tried to take a laptop from the business at W. 62nd St. and Broadway, according to police.
A 30-year-old employee was able to stop Smith and retrieve the laptop, but only after he was pepper sprayed.
Smith blasted the employee in the face with pepper spray before fleeing on foot without the laptop.
The victim declined medical care in the shop.
