Middle-aged man fatally stabbed on a Bronx MTA bus

On Sunday, a man was fatally stabbed aboard a Bronx MTA bus, according to authorities.

According to police, Lamont Barkley, 55, was on a BX19 bus when he got into an altercation with a woman at 8:25 p.m. near the junction of E. 149th St. and Gerard Ave. in Mott Haven.

Investigators say that a man got in the middle of the fight and stabbed Barkley several times in the stomach.

The attacker and his woman ran away, leaving the seriously hurt victim on the bus.

Barkley was transported to Lincoln Hospital, but it was too late to rescue him.

Police said he resided in the Morris Heights neighborhood of the Bronx.

The police continued to search for the man and the woman.

No arrests were made.
