Monroe County Jury convicted two men after two men were shot to death on State Street
A jury in Monroe County found two men guilty following the fatal shooting of two individuals on State Street.
The incident occurred on March 13, 2022, when officers from the Rochester Police were dispatched to State Street in Rochester due to reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they discovered Charles Robinson and Lonnie Keys deceased, both having sustained gunshot injuries.
Following an investigation, 33-year-old Henry Phelps III and 25-year-old Marique Simkin were identified as the perpetrators. At the time of the arrest, Simkin was already detained on separate weapons charges.
Phelps faced charges of second-degree murder and four counts of second-degree criminal weapon possession in connection with Charles Robinson’s death. Simkin was similarly found guilty of second-degree murder and two counts of second-degree weapon possession related to Lonnie Keys’ death.
Sentencing for both individuals is scheduled for January 22, 2024, at the New York Supreme Court.
