Monroe County man sentenced to 15 years for father’s murder

Rochester, New York – According to the Monroe County District Attorney’s Office, Detric Marshall, 39, has received a prison sentence for the murder of his father in a tragic case that has garnered local attention.

Detric Marshall was initially charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of his father, 70-year-old Charles Marshall. However, he later entered a guilty plea. The incident, which occurred back in January, involved Charles Marshall being found with multiple stab wounds. He was taken to URMC but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.

The investigation led to the revelation that the stabbing took place during a dispute between Detric and his father at their home on Dayton Street. This domestic altercation escalated to a violent confrontation, resulting in the elder Marshall’s tragic death.

At the time of his arrest, it was disclosed that Detric Marshall was already on probation due to a drug conviction. He also had an outstanding bench warrant from the Perry Police Department. In a related development, on the night of the stabbing, another man, Napolan Marshall, faced assault charges for allegedly assaulting an officer.

Detric Marshall’s sentence includes 15 years in prison, followed by five years of post-release supervision.
