Motorcyclist tased by police and burst into flames
A motorcyclist who was tased while carrying a gallon of gasoline in a backpack burst into flames after being suspected of leading Arkansas State Police on a high-speed pursuit.
Christopher Gaylor, 38, allegedly led police on a 100 mph chase earlier this month, during which he “ignored several traffic stop signs and traffic lights” and drove across a shopping center walkway. He then left his bike and ran through a neighborhood on foot as the police chased him.
In an effort to detain the subject, a trooper used a TASER, according to a police statement. “When Gaylor was hit with the TASER, a firestorm consumed him.”
Local station KHBS broadcast footage of officers yelling “He’s on fire!” and using an extinguisher to douse the flames.
The suspect is reportedly in “excellent condition” at the hospital and is expected to recover from his injuries. He will be charged with felony eluding and driving while his license is suspended.
During their chase, the Arkansas State Police reportedly discovered that Gaylor had outstanding warrants.
No police are reportedly under investigation in relation to the arrest. The incident allegedly happened in North Little Rock on October 13 at around 1:00 a.m.
