North Texas Veterans and motorcycle clubs unite for disaster relief effort
The veteran’s resource outreach center, also known as VROC, in Rowlett has been receiving an outpouring of support from donors, who have been dropping off sleeping bags, socks, water, and other vital necessities. Encouraging people to contribute to the initiative, the group has launched Task Force Amory, a call-to-action for the public to donate disaster relief supplies to the VROC.
With a 26-foot Ryder truck sponsored by a generous donor, the group aims to fill it with supplies and is even prepared to provide an additional truck if they gather enough donations. The motorcycle clubs from Louisiana and Oklahoma are also actively participating in the effort, and volunteers plan to drive to collect supplies from other states to deliver to Amory on Sunday, April 2.
The relief effort welcomes donations of non-perishable food items, baby food, and diapers, Gatorade, tarps, tools, buckets, cords, toiletries, and more. The VROC, located at 4210 Industrial Street in Rowlett, and The Rowlett Food Pantry at 4501 Rowlett Rd are both accepting donations.
In times of adversity, it is heartening to see people come together and show that humanity and compassion prevail above all else. The joint efforts of the veteran and motorcycle clubs to bring aid and comfort to those affected by the tornadoes in Mississippi serves as an inspiration to all.
