Rochester International Plaza announces full lineup of August and fall cultural events for families and visitors
Rochester, New York – The International Plaza in Rochester is preparing for another busy season of community celebrations, with a series of themed events scheduled throughout August, followed by additional cultural gatherings in September and October.
Located at 828 North Clinton Ave., the plaza will continue serving as a gathering place where residents and visitors can experience music, dance, food, and entertainment while celebrating the many cultures that make Rochester unique.
Three major events will headline the August schedule. The festivities begin with Dominican Day from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 16. The celebration will be followed by International Day of Salsa from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 23, offering another afternoon of live music, dancing, and cultural performances.
The month will conclude with a Back-to-School Event from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 30, giving local students and families an opportunity to prepare for the upcoming academic year.
Events celebrate culture while supporting local families
City officials say families and community members are invited to attend the August events to enjoy a variety of cultural experiences, including traditional cuisine, live entertainment, dance performances, and music.
The Back-to-School Event will also provide free school supplies along with community resources designed to help students begin the school year ready for success. Organizers hope the event will ease some of the financial burden on families while connecting them with helpful local services.
The celebrations will continue after August with a full calendar of community events throughout the fall.
The schedule includes Rochester Trans Pride Fest on Saturday, Sept. 5, followed by Gospel in the Plaza on Sunday, Sept. 6.
The plaza will then host the Hispanic Heritage Month Kickoff on Sunday, Sept. 13, before welcoming audiences for a Fringe Festival performance of Europa on Saturday, Sept. 19.
Additional events include ROC the Plaza with Grand Tone on Sunday, Sept. 27, the Latin American Festival on Sunday, Oct. 4, and the Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration and Plaza Closing on Sunday, Oct. 11, which will conclude the seasonal programming.
Officials describe the International Plaza as a cornerstone of Rochester’s Northeast neighborhoods, providing a welcoming destination where residents and visitors can gather to experience diverse cultures through food, entertainment, and community events.
The plaza’s programming also highlights the important cultural and economic contributions made by immigrants and Latino communities throughout Rochester.
Visitors planning to attend are reminded that parking at the plaza is limited. Organizers encourage guests to carpool, walk, ride bicycles, or use public transportation whenever possible.
