Two migrants dead, 12 others injured in South Texas crash
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, two migrants were killed and 12 others were injured when a pickup vehicle that was being pursued by authorities in South Texas by a person suspected of being a human trafficker crashed.
The deadly collision took place in Brooks County, which is located around 60 miles north of the border between the United States and Mexico.
In the images supplied by the Texas Department of Public Safety, a white pickup truck can be seen inverted and off the road.
The 14 people who were traveling via Mexico and Guatemala in the van all came from those two countries. The motorist was able to get away from the incident, as reported by the Texas Department of Public Safety.
According to Customs and Border Protection, the number of migrants who have died while attempting to cross the border this year has reached a new record high, with about 800 people having already lost their lives in the process.
Three migrants were killed in Kinney County earlier this month in an accident that involved smuggling people.
