Woman who unlawfully occupied an uninhabited Brooklyn apartment killed in a fire that broke out early Friday
The fire that broke out early Friday morning killed a woman who was living illegally in an empty apartment in Brooklyn.
After the fire was put out at 3:55 in the morning, the unidentified female was discovered inside the apartment by firefighters who had been summoned in response to the incident on Van Siclen Avenue near Fulton Street.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
According to the FDNY, 60 members of the department were sent in response to the fire, and they were able to put it under control in about half an hour.
Another person sustained a non-life-threatening injury, but they did not seek medical attention.
