Alzheimer’s Association’s Annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s to be held October 8
On October 8, 2022, citizens of Rochester and the Finger Lakes will participate in the Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s Disease as part of the campaign to eradicate Alzheimer’s disease.
The world’s biggest event to raise awareness and finances for care, support, and research of Alzheimer’s disease is hosted annually by the Alzheimer’s Association and is called the Walk to End Alzheimer’s.
The Walk is going to take place once again at Frontier Field, and registration will start at nine in the morning.
According to the association’s website, “Our aim is to lead the way to eliminate Alzheimer’s and all other dementia – by speeding worldwide research, driving risk reduction and early diagnosis, and enhancing quality treatment and support.”
On the day of the walk, participants pay tribute to individuals whose lives have been altered by Alzheimer’s disease by participating in the moving Promise Garden ceremony. This mission-focused event represents our unity in the battle against the illness. People’s personal connections to Alzheimer’s disease are represented by the colors of the flowers in the Promise Garden. These are the reasons they want to see an end to the illness.
Even while preparations are now underway to hold the Rochester Walk in person, the well-being of all participants, employees, and volunteers continues to take precedence above all other concerns. The Alzheimer’s Association will continue to keep a close eye on CDC, state, and local requirements in order to guarantee that Walk events comply with the most recent recommendations.
Alzheimer’s disease is the most common cause of mortality in the United States, and it affects more than 6 million people who are now living here. In addition, more than 11 million members of patients’ families and friends offer care for those who are afflicted with Alzheimer’s disease or another kind of dementia.
There are more than 410,000 individuals living with the condition in the state of New York alone, and there are 563,000 workers providing care for these patients.
