Homesense and Sierra stores will open in Amherst
TJX understands exactly where their consumers are.
During the epidemic, when T.J. Maxx and HomeGoods reopened on Sheridan Drive, the wait to enter was hundreds of people long and extended around the whole plaza. At TJX Cos. locations in Western New York, similar events occurred.
Now, Amherst will be the first place in New York to have five of the company’s retail brands, including Marshalls, T.J. Maxx, HomeGoods, Homesense, and Sierra.
T.J. Maxx and HomeGoods are shutting down their combined site at 3050 Sheridan Drive in Amherst and relocating to 1501 Niagara Falls Blvd. on October 27. Additionally, Homesense and Sierra will open at that site. In April, Marshalls opened in the old Babies ‘R Us location next to Target at 1579 Niagara Falls Boulevard.
Both Homesense and Sierra are new to the market in Western New York. Prior to this, the nearest Homesense shop was in Pittsford, a suburb of Rochester. Rochester had the nearest Sierra shop.
In 2001, Homesense was founded as a Canadian network of budget home furnishing shops, which expanded to Europe in 2008 and the United States in 2017. Homesense is comparable to HomeGoods in terms of range and style, but it sells more furniture, including full-sized couches, sectionals, and dining room sets. Additionally, its rug and lighting divisions are substantially bigger. There may also be bathtubs, textiles, hammers, or wallpaper.
Sierra, formerly known as Sierra Trading Post and bought by TJX, sells outdoor recreation, fitness, and adventure products and accessories, as well as footwear, clothes, and home décor. Sierra, unlike other TJX locations, has a substantial internet presence.
TJX shops are off-price retailers selling products priced 20% to 60% below retail on a regular basis. Weekly, new cargoes come.
