On Wednesday, police officers who responded to a car accident in Queens encountered a startling discovery in one of the seats: a man who had been shot in the head, according to the police.
The accident happened at around 4:15 p.m. in East Flushing at the crossroads of Parsons Blvd. and Franklin Ave. The driver of a black Range Rover crashed into the rear of a white van that was waiting at a red light, according to the police.
The man who was driving the Range Rover got out of the vehicle and ran away on foot, leaving the vehicle in the middle of the road.
According to the police, when they got to the scene, they discovered the shooting victim, who was 48 years old and had been struck in the head by a bullet, sitting in the backseat of the Range Rover.
He was transported to the Flushing Hospital Medical Center, but he did not survive. The identity of the suspect was not immediately made public by the police.
The driver of the van was transferred to a local hospital, where his condition was reported to be stable.
In the late hours of Wednesday night, police continued their search for the driver of the Range Rover.
