Deputies in Wayne County arrested a Rochester woman late Friday morning

Wayne County deputies detained a Rochester resident on Friday morning amidst a commotion on State Route 104 in Ontario.

The 36-year-old Demaris D. Willis was apprehended for her resistance to arrest, hampering governmental operations, and second-degree assault on a law enforcement officer. These accusations originate from a domestic incident that unfolded on the westbound side of the road past Lincoln Road.

“Willis had an active warrant out of the city of Rochester Police Department and it is alleged that when deputies attempted to detain Willis on the warrant, she began actively resisting,” stated the Wayne County Sheriff’s deputies. “Willis obstructed deputies and physically resisted arrest resulting in the injury of a deputy.”

Support during the arrest came from Ontario Ambulance and New York State Police. The injured deputy received treatment at a local hospital and was subsequently discharged.

Following her arrest, Willis was escorted to Wayne County Jail for a centralized arraignment that evening.
