Violent altercation leads to shooting death in Rochester

Rochester, New York  – A tragic incident occurred on Sunday evening in northwest Rochester, resulting in the death of a 37-year-old city resident. The incident took place inside his home on Robin Street, marking a grim addition to the city’s rising homicide count.

According to Captain Frank Umbrino of the Rochester Police Department, emergency responders rushed to 103 Robin Street around 7:30 p.m. following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers discovered Michael Ingram inside his home, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body.

Despite the swift response, the situation took a dire turn. Ingram, who resided at the Robin Street address, was immediately transported to Strong Memorial Hospital. Sadly, he was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting point to a violent altercation within the residence. Captain Umbrino revealed that several individuals were present in the house, known for its involvement in drug sales, when the dispute escalated, leading to Ingram being shot multiple times.

Robin Street, located off Emerson Street, is typically a residential area in Rochester. The shooting incident has now cast a shadow over the neighborhood, raising concerns among residents.

This fatal shooting marks the 55th homicide in Rochester for the year, as per data from the RPD’s Open Data Portal. As of now, no charges have been filed, but police are actively investigating the case.
